I’m not sure if you have noticed but when you are grumpy and a little bit down everyone else seems to be the same. When you are more buoyant and happy the world seems a brighter place. People seem friendlier and more approachable. People are more helpful and giving.
Einstein said that the most important decision you ever make is whether you live in a friendly universe or a hostile universe– in a positive universe or a negative universe.
I know it is impossible to be up-beat all the time. We have moods and get tired. We feel negative and down on occasions. What Einstein was talking about though is our overall feeling towards being on this planet. If we feel we live in a friendly positive environment when things don’t work out as we planned we know that there is the support of those around us. We realise that the universe might have a plan for some kind of divine order and we can take comfort in the fact that whatever it is will surely change for the better.
If we feel like we live in a hostile negative world then when something goes wrong we start to blame and feel sorry for ourselves. We feel that the event is just ‘another’ thing that has gone wrong. We can’t see the out and we cling to the idea that this was deserved or a punishment. We don’t feel the support of the world, we feel abandoned.
If you look to nature you will see that it has an order. Nature expects that seeds will grow and flourish to be the best version of themselves that they are designed for. Humans forget they are programmed to be the best version of themselves possible. We have a choice as to how to view the world and it is this choice that can make us flourish or flounder.
Practice for today: Within you is the ability to choose your world view. Adjust the view, adjust your life.
